Community Event Volunteers

Community Event Volunteers are needed for annual park and recreation events such as the Annual Egg Hunt and various community events at local parks. As a volunteer you’ll play an integral role in creating a fun and welcoming environment for families and visitors. Duties may include assisting with event set-up and take-down, leading craft tables by engaging children in fun activities, and providing visitor assistance

Shrub Trimming

Maintaining Parks and Streetscape Landscaping

Upkeep and maintenance of park landscapes and streetscapes, ensuring that all plantings, shrubs, trees, and green spaces are well-maintained, healthy, and aesthetically pleasing. This includes trimming hedges, cultivating soil, planting, irrigating, and providing overall care to landscaped areas in parks, streetscapes, and other public spaces.

Trash Pick-Up

Park Clean-Up

Maintain the cleanliness and ensuring the park environment is free of trash, debris, and litter. This role involves picking up waste, and properly disposing of garbage at the community or regional parks

Camping

Camp Host

Volunteer as a temporary resident responsible for conducting camp checks, providing basic maintenance, assisting park staff, and ensuring the safety and satisfaction of campers. The Camp Host plays a crucial role in creating a welcoming and safe environment for park visitors, ensuring campgrounds are well-maintained, and assisting with administrative tasks as needed.

Life Jacket Loaner Station

Attendant will oversee the check-out and check-in process for life jackets at one of the regional park’s designated Life Jacket Loaner Stations, along with basic operational tasks of the station. The attendant provides a welcoming and helpful service to park visitors, informing them of our life jacket loaner program, and promoting the use of life jackets.

Off-Highway Vehicle (OHV) Trail Maintenance and Restoration

Performing tasks such as removing trash and hazards from trails, constructing, and repairing various types of fencing, handling tools such as shovels or other hand tools, and engaging in physical labor to transport and position materials, including soil, boulders, and hay bales. Responsibilities also include replacing or cleaning culverts, operating water pumps and hoses to condition soil, clearing brush or fallen trees, and maintaining erosion control features.

Hall Repair

Perform maintenance and repair tasks at Frank Raines Campground and shade shelters in various parks. This includes patching and painting walls and ceilings, repairing drywall, addressing flooring issues (including tiles, carpets, and other surfaces), and ensuring that the hall is in excellent condition for visitors and staff.

Various Equipment Maintenance

Repair and upkeep of various park equipment and structures, including picnic tables, benches, fences, signs, and other park amenities. This position involves inspecting, maintaining, and repairing equipment to ensure that all park structures are safe, functional, and visually appealing for park visitors.

Adopt-A-Park Program

The Adopt-A-Park Program offers individuals, local businesses, civic organizations, and community organizations the opportunity to actively contribute to the maintenance and improvement of Stanislaus County Parks through volunteer efforts or donations. By investing in your parks, you are investing in your community.

There are three ways to participate in the Adopt-A-Park Program:

Volunteer as a Good Neighbor

Join a one-time cleanup event to help beautify and maintain a park.

Adopt-A-Park Sponsorship

Commit to organizing at least one cleanup event per month for six months, helping to ensure ongoing care and upkeep of a designated park.

Improvement Donations

Contribute funds to support the addition or enhancement of park amenities, aligned with Stanislaus County Parks' design standards.
