Chapter 18.16 - OFF-HIGHWAY VEHICLE PARK AREAS

18.16.010 Fencing and Posting.

The boundaries of the area shall be fenced or posted by the county, and there shall be one designated entrance into an area. (Prior code §10-51).

 

18.16.020 Off-highway Vehicle Parks Designated.

The following recreation areas are designated as off-highway vehicle park areas:

  1. That portion of county-owned land in Del Puerto Canyon more fully described as:

    1. All that portion of the east one-half of the east one-half of Section 11, Township 6, South, Range 5 East, Mount Diablo Meridian, lying north of Del Puerto Canyon Road; together with:

    2. All portions of Section 12, Township 6 South, Range 5 East, Mount Diablo Meridian, which lies north of Del Puerto Creek and north of the Stanislaus County Road Camp, now known as Deer Creek Park.

  2. That portion of county-owned land in La Grange more fully described as:

  1. All of those portions of Sections 29, 30, and 31, Township 3 South, Range 14 East, Mount Diablo Meridian, described as follows:

  2. The south half of the southeast quarter of the southeast quarter of said Section 30; together with:

  3. That portion of the southwest quarter of the southwest quarter of said Section 29, and that portion of the northeast quarter of said Section 31 which lies westerly of Old La Grange Road; together with:

  4. That portion of the aforesaid northeast quarter of Section 31 which lies northeasterly of New La Grange Road, also known as County Route J-59. (Prior code §10-49).

 

18.16.030 Open Seasons.

The off-highway vehicle areas in Del Puerto Canyon and La Grange shall be open throughout the year unless restricted by the Director or authorized agent for fire and safety purposes. (Ord. CS 512 §15, 1993; prior code §10-50).

 

18.16.040 Unsafe Vehicle Refusal.

All off-highway vehicles shall conform to the Vehicle Code and the Public Resources Code. Nonconforming or unsafe vehicles may be refused entry or be ordered to be removed from an area and all fees shall be non-refundable. (Prior code §10-52).

  1. All dirt bike riders and operators must wear a helmet regardless of engine size.

  2. No double riding allowed.

  3. All operators, owners, and passengers must abide by state laws.

 

 

18.16.050 Use Regulations.

It is unlawful and constitutes an infraction for any person to violate or fail to comply with any of the following provisions:

  1. The off-highway vehicle park areas shall be used only for the operation of power-driven land vehicles for purposes such as hill climbing, rough-terrain riding and similar pursuits during open seasons.

  2. No person shall be in the off-highway vehicle areas for purposes of off- highway vehicle use during the period one-half hour after sundown to one-half hour before sunrise, except for emergency situations affecting the safety of persons or property.

  3. Nonmotorized vehicles and pedestrians must not interfere with off- highway vehicle activity, nor shall they create a safety hazard by their presence. (Ord. CS 512 §§1, 12, 1993; prior code §10-53).
