Q: How many OHV parks are there in Stanislaus County?
A: Stanislaus County Parks and Recreation Department owns and operates two large Off-Highway Vehicle (OHV) parks in Stanislaus County:

Q: What are park hours and annual schedules?
A: Frank Raines is open seasonally depending on weather conditions – its park operation status is updated regularly on the County Parks website: https://www.stancountyparks.com/
La Grange OHV Park is open year-round. Day use is from sunrise to sunset. Please note that park operations may vary.
Q: How much is a day-use fee at the OHV Parks?
A: The day use fee at our OHV parks is $5 per vehicle. Ex: One (1) truck hauling a trailer with three (3) OHVs counts as one (1) vehicle. Click here to see the current fee schedule.

A: Yes, we have both picnic tables and barbeque pits.

Q: Do the OHV parks have picnic shelters?
A: Yes, Frank Raines has a picnic shelter. Click here to submit a reservation request.
Q: How do you reserve the Recreation Hall at Frank Raines?
A: The Frank Raines Recreation Hall is available to reserve by submitting a request on our website. Click here to submit a reservation request.
Q: Where is parking available at Frank Raines?
A: Besides the day use park and the campground area, there are several areas along Del Puerto Canyon Road that are available to hunters to pull off and park. There are walk- throughs at the “V” shaped fence openings. There are three designated pull-out areas off Del Puerto Canyon Road within the Minniear Day Use Area. Please check with Parks Staff for additional information.

Q: Does your vehicle have to be registered to ride on the off-highway roads and trails?
A: Yes, all vehicle units must have an OHV registration in the form of a Red or Green sticker, or an on-road registration. Please refer to the OHV Laws and Regulations resource listed below for more details.
Q: What does a Red sticker mean, and where can it be purchased?
A: A Red sticker is the OHV registration for certain year manufactured vehicles that do not meet emission standards. Please refer to the OHV Laws and Regulations resource listed below for more details.

Q: When is Red sticker season?
A: As of January 1, 2025, California's Red Sticker seasonal riding restrictions have been lifted. This change allows off-highway vehicles (OHVs) with Red Sticker registrations- typically motorcycles and ATVs from model years 2003 to 2021 that do not meet emission standards- to operate year-round on public lands designated for OHV use.

Q: What type of off-road vehicles are allowed in the OHV Parks?
A: DMV registered: Motorcycles, Minibikes, ATV’s, UTV’s/side by sides, 4WD trucks and Jeeps, Dune Buggies.

Q: Can we ride bicycles in the off-road area?
A: No, only in the day-use and campground areas.
Q: Do traffic laws apply to off-road parks?
A: All sections of the California Vehicle Code and Penal Code are strictly enforced.
Q: Are mufflers and spark arrestors required?
A: As per the vehicle code.
Q: Are motorcycle helmets required?
A: State law requires helmet use on all all-terrain type vehicles used on public lands.
Q: What kind of security is there and who enforces the rules and law enforcement?
A: Both parks are patrolled by the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department. A park attendant is on site most days during business hours at Frank Raines Regional Park.

Q: Do you take reservations, or is camping first-come, first-serve?
A: Our OHV parks have both reservable and first-come, first serve campsites.
a. La Grange has first-come, first serve Basic Campsites and 15 RV/Trailer Hookup Campsites (water only) available to reserve 24 hours in advance, click here to reserve.
b. Frank Raines has first-come, first serve Basic Campsites and 34 RV/Trailer Hookup Campsites (sewer and electric only) available to reserve 3 days in advance (except for sites 20-24, these have hookups but are first-come first-serve), click here to reserve.
Q: Can I camp in the Minniear Day Use Area at Frank Raines?
A: NO CAMPING is allowed in the Minniear Day use Area, except for designated campgrounds.
Q: Is there a limit on how long we can stay in the campgrounds?
A: Check-out time is no later than 2:00 p.m. on your last day. Camping is limited to no more than 15 days per month at one campground.

Q: Do the restrooms at the OHV parks have flush toilets and showers?
A: La Grange has vaulted restrooms and currently Frank Raines does not have running water, no flush toilets, no showers, no water hook-ups, and restrooms are locked. We have placed 6 portable toilets in the campground area.
Q: Can you have ground fires?
A: Ground fires are not permitted – fires must be contained; you may use barbecue pits or fire rings.
Q: How do I get a hunting permit for Frank Raines?
A: You may request a hunting permit online or at our main office located at:

Q: How big is the hunting area at Frank Raines?
A: The Minniear Day Use hunting area is approximately 1,000 acres.

Q: Can I drive into the Minniear Day Use Area to collect my kill?
A: NO – the Minniear Day Use Area does not allow vehicle entry of any kind. The intent of low impact use is to preserve the environment and allow continued recreational opportunities in the rugged terrain. The Minniear Day Use Area is available for hunting for a limited time during the designated season. Please check our website stancountyparks.com/hunting for availability.
Q: Where is the nearest medical help (urgent care & hospital)?
A: At both parks, emergency help is available by calling 911.
Due to the area being remote, wireless phone contacts may not operate. Please be aware that there may be a higher risk to the length of time emergency help can be reached or arrive timely. Should you be able to establish contact, you may call the local dispatch for non-emergency situations at (800) 273-4911. For power failures, you may call TID at (209) 883-8301.

DIRECTIONS/INFORMATION:
La Grange OHV Park: La Grange OHV Park is located 2 ½ miles south of La Grange, CA, on Highway J-59. The park is 126 acres of trails, hill climbs, and various other challenges. There is also a dedicated Moto-Cross track open to the public when sponsored events are not scheduled. An under-80cc training area is available for younger riders. Vaulted restrooms and camping are available. Day use is sunrise to sunset. Further information is available by calling (209) 874-9540 or (209) 525-6750.

Frank Raines OHV Park: Frank Raines OHV Park is located 25 miles west of Patterson, CA, on Del Puerto Canyon Road. The park is 860 acres of trails, hill climbs, and various other challenges. The area is mostly steep terrain. Basic (first come, first serve) and RV/Hookup Campsites (available to reserve) are available. A full kitchen recreation hall is available for rentals. There is currently no running water- no water at our hookup sites, no flush toilets, no sinks, no showers- 6 portable restrooms are available in the camping area. Day use is sunrise to sunset.
